Jill makes the best pancakes I’ve ever had. We’ve tried to eat them on Saturdays whenever possible ever since we were first married. They’re similar to crepes and have a great taste. She follows a recipe and for the longest time she encouraged me to try to make them myself. I managed to avoid making them for quite some time. After all, she does make them the best. That all changed when our schedules shifted and Saturday became Jill’s sleep-in day. I found myself following the recipe and over the past few weeks I have finally achieved making the perfect Jill pancake! In fact, I now even have the recipe memorized and could show Elliot how to make them when he’s older.
In much the same way, we hope the teens at Valley Creek Church will be able to follow the “recipes” in the Bible for living for Jesus and be able to show others how to do the same. A key part to a lasting faith in teens is not just knowing their faith, but also being able to communicate their faith.
That’s the heart of our new series called “Faith Defined”. We are looking at some of the most common words we read in the Bible or hear in church. We are helping everyone understand the meaning and then helping them communicate that to others. The words we’re focusing on are: Salvation, Baptism, Christian, and Disciple.
